Your next step

Make the connection.

Install the app, link your device, then check your tools work.

  1. Install

Unzip Kin, move it to Applications and open it. Updating? Replace your old copy to keep your pairing.

  2. Link your Mac

Choose Continue in your browser, sign in, and check the code matches. Approve only your own device.

  3. Choose your tools

Bring in the tools already on your Mac, in Kin. Turn on only the Mac permissions they need, in Kin’s Settings.

  4. Check it works

In Access › Devices, check your Mac is online and allow its tools. Then ask your AI app to read something harmless.

Other devices and permissions

Windows and Linux. The bridge needs Node.js 22 or later. On Windows, open Command Prompt, run winget install OpenJS.NodeJS.LTS --source winget, then open a new Command Prompt for the next commands; PowerShell on a new PC refuses to run npm. On Linux, get it from nodejs.org, since many distributions package an older one. Then install the Kin bridge with the command above, run kin-bridge pair and approve the code it shows.

Mac permissions. Turn on Mac access in Kin’s Settings › Permissions. macOS may ask for Screen Recording or Accessibility. Allow only local programs you trust. Kin’s approval rules cover requests through Kin; an approved program can perform additional work within the access macOS allows it. Quit and reopen Kin when asked.

iPhone and Apple Watch. Join on TestFlight, then create your account here first, then open Kin on your iPhone, choose Continue and sign in. Confirm with Face ID and turn on notifications. Your Apple Watch links through the iPhone.

Android. Open Google Play, then create your account here first, then open Kin on your phone, choose Continue and sign in.

Chrome. Kin on your Mac adds Kin’s extension. With Chrome open, follow the step under Chrome in Kin’s Settings › Permissions.

Linking is separate from approval. An account does not link a device or approve a request. Downloading Kin or approving a pairing does not show it works. The check in step 4 does. Pairing codes expire; if one expires, start again in the app.
