Help
Most problems come down to what is connected, what your rules allow, and what each AI app may use. Start with the problem you see.
The AI app says it cannot do something
- Nothing is connected for it. Kin tells the app when nothing you connected fits the task, and suggests what to connect. Connect it, or ask the app to. See Connect anything.
- The action is set to Block. AI apps do not see a blocked action. Open the connection and change its rule.
- The app may not use that connection. Open AI apps in Kin, open the app's menu, choose Edit access, and check its Access and whether it Can only read.
- The app uses a profile's address. An app added with a profile's address only reaches that profile's connections.
- The connection needs you. A sign-in can expire or be revoked. Open the connection's menu in Kin and choose Sign in again, or Replace the key.
The app is waiting, or said approval is required
The action is set to Ask me. Open Tasks in Kin and answer the request. If you answer after the app stopped waiting, ask it to check again, and it collects the result with the same request. To give yourself more time, change the approval wait. See How long the AI app waits.
ChatGPT and Gemini also ask you to confirm an action in their own window before it reaches Kin. That is the AI app's own check, separate from your Kin rules.
The app says Kin is paused
Someone paused Kin, that AI app, or the connection. Select Pause in Kin's sidebar to see what is paused and resume it. A pause also ends on its own when the time you chose runs out. See Pause.
The app says a limit was reached
Your workspace used its actions or searches for the month, or reached its number of connections or AI apps. Settings, then Workspace, shows your usage. See When you reach a limit.
A token stopped working
Tokens expire after the time you chose when you made them: 30 days, 90 days or 1 year. Open AI apps in Kin, open the app's menu, choose Replace token, and paste the new token where the app keeps it. Signing in instead of a token avoids this, for apps that support it.
The app cannot sign in to Kin
- Check that the app's address is exactly
https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp, or the profile address you meant to use. - Follow your app's own guide in Add Kin to your AI apps. Some apps need a newer version, a trusted folder, or a setting turned on by an admin.
- If the app asks for an OAuth client ID, it cannot sign in to Kin yet. Use a token instead.
The app says a result was trimmed
Kin trims a very long result before it reaches the app, so it does not crowd out your conversation. The app can ask Kin for the rest.
