Add Kin to your AI apps

Add Kin to Gemini CLI

Google's agent in the terminal. Give Gemini CLI one address, sign in to Kin, and it can use the accounts you connect, under your rules.

Before you start

  • Create a Kin account at app.kinlab.ai and connect at least one account. See Get started.
  • Kin's address for every AI app is https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp. A profile has its own address, shown on the profile. See Profiles.
  • Signing in is the recommended way. Use a token only when the app cannot sign in. You create one in Kin under AI apps, with Connect an AI app and then Paste a token (advanced), and Kin shows it once.

  1. In a terminal, add Kin to Gemini CLI:

gemini mcp add --transport http kin https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp
  2. Start Gemini CLI in the same folder and type:

    /mcp auth kin
  3. Gemini CLI asks whether to open your browser. Choose Yes.

  4. Choose what Gemini CLI may use in the Kin window, then approve.

  5. Check the result. kin should read Ready, with 5 tools:

    /mcp list

Use a token instead

Replace YOUR_TOKEN with the token you created in Kin under AI apps. See Sign in, or use a token.

  1. In a terminal, add Kin with your token:

gemini mcp add --transport http --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN" kin https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp
  2. Check the connection. kin should read Connected:

    gemini mcp list

Good to know

  • This adds Kin to the current project. Add -s user to the command to use it in every project.
  • Gemini CLI turns its MCP servers off in a folder you have not trusted. If kin reads Disabled, trust the folder when Gemini CLI asks, then start it again.

After you connect

Ask the app to do something with an account you connected, such as "list my open Linear issues". The app searches Kin for a matching action and runs it if your rule allows it. An action set to Ask me waits for you. See Approvals and questions.

To change what this app may use, open AI apps in Kin. See What each AI app may use.

How we checked this guide

We ran these steps with Gemini CLI 0.64.0 on October 13, 2026: sign-in, renewing an expired sign-in, the tools, and a pasted token.

Source: Gemini CLI documentation. These apps change their setup screens often, so check there if a step looks different.
