Add Kin to Muse Code

Meta's coding agent in the terminal.

Before you start

Sign in

  1. Open ~/.config/muse/settings.json, creating it if needed, and add Kin under mcp_servers. Keep "schema_version": 1 in the file. Muse Code refuses a settings file without it.

    {
      "schema_version": 1,
      "mcp_servers": {
        "kin": {
          "transport": "streamable_http",
          "url": "https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp",
          "mode": "optional"
        }
      }
    }
  2. In a terminal, sign in:

    muse mcp login kin
  3. A Kin window opens in your browser. Kin cannot check who Muse Code is, so it starts read only. Check the connections ticked for it, choose Can read and change if it should make changes, then approve. Muse Code then says it is logged in.

  4. Start Muse Code and type /mcp to see kin and its tools.

  • On a computer with no browser, run muse mcp login kin --headless. Muse Code prints an address to open on another device, then asks for the address the browser ends on after you approve, which starts with http://127.0.0.1. Paste it back.
  • Muse Code keeps the sign-in and renews it. If Kin asks for a new sign-in later, Muse Code shows the command to run.

After you connect

Ask the app to do something with an account you connected, such as "list my open Linear issues". The app searches Kin for a matching action and runs it if your rule allows it. An action set to Ask me waits for you. See Approvals and questions.

To change what this app may use, open AI apps in Kin. See What each AI app may use.

Use a profile's address

Kin's address for every AI app is https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp. A profile has its own address, shown on the profile. See Profiles.

Use a token instead

Use a token only when the app cannot sign in. Create one in Kin under AI apps, with Connect an AI app and then Paste a token (advanced). Kin shows it once. Replace YOUR_TOKEN with it. See Sign in, or use a token.

  1. Open ~/.config/muse/settings.json, creating it if needed, and add Kin with your token:

    {
      "schema_version": 1,
      "mcp_servers": {
        "kin": {
          "transport": "streamable_http",
          "url": "https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp",
          "headers": {
            "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"
          },
          "mode": "optional"
        }
      }
    }
  2. Start Muse Code and type /mcp to see kin and its tools.

Good to know

  • If the file already lists other servers, add the kin entry beside them.
  • "mode": "optional" lets Muse Code carry on with a warning when Kin cannot be reached. Without it, Muse Code stops the run.

How we checked this guide

We ran these steps with Muse Code 1.4.14 on November 2, 2026. We ran the sign-in, the headless sign-in and listed Kin's tools. A full task and the token steps were not run.
