Add Kin to Kilo Code

Kilo Code in VS Code, and the Kilo CLI.

Before you start

Sign in

VS Code
  1. In the Kilo Code sidebar, select the icon that opens Settings. Choose the Agent Behaviour tab, then MCP Servers.

  2. Select Add Server and choose Remote (HTTP). Name it kin and enter this URL:

    https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp
  3. Save. Kilo Code starts the sign-in when it connects, and a Kin window opens in your browser. Kin cannot check who Kilo is, so it starts read only. Check the connections ticked for it, choose Can read and change if it should make changes, then approve.

CLI
  1. In a terminal, add Kin to the Kilo CLI:

    kilo mcp add kin --url https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp
  2. Start the sign-in. Kilo prints the sign-in address and opens it in your browser:

    kilo mcp auth kin
  3. Kin cannot check who Kilo is, so it starts read only. Check the connections ticked for it, choose Can read and change if it should make changes, then approve. Kilo prints "Authentication successful!" when it is done.

  4. Check the result. kin should read connected:

    kilo mcp list

After you connect

Ask the app to do something with an account you connected, such as "list my open Linear issues". The app searches Kin for a matching action and runs it if your rule allows it. An action set to Ask me waits for you. See Approvals and questions.

To change what this app may use, open AI apps in Kin. See What each AI app may use.

Use a profile's address

Kin's address for every AI app is https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp. A profile has its own address, shown on the profile. See Profiles.

Use a token instead

Use a token only when the app cannot sign in. Create one in Kin under AI apps, with Connect an AI app and then Paste a token (advanced). Kin shows it once. Replace YOUR_TOKEN with it. See Sign in, or use a token.

  1. Add Kin with your token to ~/.config/kilo/kilo.jsonc:

    {
      "mcp": {
        "kin": {
          "type": "remote",
          "url": "https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp",
          "headers": {
            "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"
          }
        }
      }
    }

Good to know

  • Both the extension and the CLI keep their settings in ~/.config/kilo/kilo.jsonc. To add Kin to one project only, put the entry in .kilo/kilo.jsonc in that project.
  • If the file already lists other servers under mcp, add the kin entry beside them.

How we checked this guide

We ran these steps with the Kilo CLI 7.8.18 on October 31, 2026, against a local copy of Kin: adding the server, signing in, and a tool call.

The VS Code extension steps follow Kilo's documentation and were not run here.
