AI apps
Add Kin to Kiro
The Kiro editor and Kiro CLI.
Before you start
Sign in
Add to Kiro opens Kiro and asks to add Kin's address. Confirm, then sign in as the last steps below say.
Open the command palette and run Kiro: Open user MCP config (JSON). To use Kin in one project only, run Kiro: Open workspace MCP config (JSON) instead.
Add Kin under
mcpServers:{ "mcpServers": { "kin": { "url": "https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp" } } }Save the file. Kiro connects and opens a Kin window in your browser.
Kin cannot check who Kiro is, so it starts read only. Check the connections ticked for it, choose Can read and change if it should make changes, then approve.
After you connect
Ask the app to do something with an account you connected, such as "list my open Linear issues". The app searches Kin for a matching action and runs it if your rule allows it. An action set to Ask me waits for you. See Approvals and questions.
To change what this app may use, open AI apps in Kin. See What each AI app may use.
Use a profile's address
Kin's address for every AI app is https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp. A profile has its own address, shown on the profile. See Profiles.
Use a token instead
Use a token only when the app cannot sign in. Create one in Kin under AI apps, with Connect an AI app and then Paste a token (advanced). Kin shows it once. Replace YOUR_TOKEN with it. See Sign in, or use a token.
Open the user MCP config as above and add Kin with your token:
{ "mcpServers": { "kin": { "url": "https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_TOKEN" } } } }
Good to know
- If Kiro lists no MCP servers, open Settings, search for MCP and turn on MCP support.
- Kiro CLI reads the same file,
~/.kiro/settings/mcp.json. - The Add to Kiro link can add Kin switched off. If Kin shows as off, remove "disabled": true from its entry in the file.
- If the file already lists other servers, add the
kinentry beside them.
How we checked this guide
These steps follow Kiro documentation as of October 31, 2026. We have not run every step.
Kiro was not run here. Its documentation says it registers itself with a server that supports it, as Kin does, and returns to an address on this computer, which Kin accepts. Kiro asks you to sign in to Kiro itself before anything else, so the rest was not run. We opened the one-click link in Kiro 1.4.62 on November 1, 2026, before sign-in: Kiro asked to install kin with the address and no token, and wrote the entry switched off.
