Add Kin to your AI apps

Add Kin to another AI app

Any AI app that can add a remote MCP server can use Kin. Give it one address, sign in, and your rules apply to everything it does.

Before you start

  • Create a Kin account at app.kinlab.ai and connect at least one account. See Get started.
  • Kin's address for every AI app is https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp. A profile has its own address, shown on the profile. See Profiles.
  • Signing in is the recommended way. Use a token only when the app cannot sign in. You create one in Kin under AI apps, with Connect an AI app and then Paste a token (advanced), and Kin shows it once.

  1. In your app, find where it adds a remote MCP server. Some apps call this a custom connector. Paste this address:

    https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp
  2. If the app supports sign-in for remote servers, it opens a Kin sign-in window. Choose what the app may use, then approve.

  • Signing in works when the app can register itself with Kin, which most do. If the app asks you for an OAuth client ID instead, signing in will not work with it yet.
  • An app that only runs local MCP servers can connect through mcp-remote, which signs in under the name "MCP CLI Proxy". When you approve, choose which app it is, or give mcp-remote a name with --static-oauth-client-metadata '{"client_name":"Your app"}'.

Use a token instead

Replace YOUR_TOKEN with the token you created in Kin under AI apps. See Sign in, or use a token.

  1. In your app, find where it adds a remote MCP server. Some apps call this a custom connector. Paste this address:

    https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp
  2. Set this request header so the app sends your token:

    Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN
  3. If the app asks for a transport, choose Streamable HTTP.

Good to know

  • Not every AI app can add its own connection, and some limit it to certain plans. Check the app's documentation for "remote MCP server".

After you connect

Ask the app to do something with an account you connected, such as "list my open Linear issues". The app searches Kin for a matching action and runs it if your rule allows it. An action set to Ask me waits for you. See Approvals and questions.

To change what this app may use, open AI apps in Kin. See What each AI app may use.

How we checked this guide

There is no single vendor to check against. If your app's screens differ, look for "remote MCP server" or "custom connector" in its documentation.
