Add Kin to your AI apps

Add Kin to ChatGPT

ChatGPT on the web. Give ChatGPT one address, sign in to Kin, and it can use the accounts you connect, under your rules.

Before you start

  • Create a Kin account at app.kinlab.ai and connect at least one account. See Get started.
  • Kin's address for every AI app is https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp. A profile has its own address, shown on the profile. See Profiles.

Steps

  1. In a browser, go to chatgpt.com/plugins.

  2. Select Add, then Create custom MCP server. Some accounts show + and Add custom MCP server instead.

  3. Enter a name, such as Kin. Under Connection, paste this as the Server URL:

    https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp
  4. For authentication, choose OAuth.

  5. Read the warning, select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.

  6. Install the plugin from your personal plugins, or from the workspace you created it in. A Kin sign-in window opens. Choose what ChatGPT may use, then approve.

  7. In a chat, type @ and select Kin.

Good to know

  • Before creating a Kin account, open chatgpt.com/plugins and check whether Add custom MCP server is available. OpenAI controls access, and workspace permissions and security restrictions can prevent it.
  • If that option is missing or disabled, check with your workspace admin or OpenAI support before continuing. A paid Kin plan does not enable a ChatGPT feature.
  • ChatGPT asks you to confirm before it runs an action through Kin, because an action can change something. Finding and describing actions does not ask.
  • If ChatGPT says a call was blocked by OpenAI's safety checks, the request never reached Kin, so nothing ran. Ask ChatGPT to try again. It often goes through on the next try.
  • ChatGPT on the web has no place to paste a key for a custom server, so signing in is the only way.

After you connect

Ask the app to do something with an account you connected, such as "list my open Linear issues". The app searches Kin for a matching action and runs it if your rule allows it. An action set to Ask me waits for you. See Approvals and questions.

To change what this app may use, open AI apps in Kin. See What each AI app may use.

How we checked this guide

These steps follow OpenAI developer documentation as of October 13, 2026. We have not run every step.

OpenAI's developer page and its help page give different starting points, and neither says which plans below Pro can add a custom server.

Source: OpenAI developer documentation. These apps change their setup screens often, so check there if a step looks different.
