Add Kin to your AI apps
Add Kin to Cursor
The Cursor editor and its CLI. Give Cursor one address, sign in to Kin, and it can use the accounts you connect, under your rules.
Before you start
- Create a Kin account at app.kinlab.ai and connect at least one account. See Get started.
- Kin's address for every AI app is
https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp. A profile has its own address, shown on the profile. See Profiles. - Signing in is the recommended way. Use a token only when the app cannot sign in. You create one in Kin under AI apps, with Connect an AI app and then Paste a token (advanced), and Kin shows it once.
Open ~/.cursor/mcp.json, creating it if needed. To use Kin in one project only, use .cursor/mcp.json in that project.
Add Kin under mcpServers, with no token:
{ "mcpServers": { "kin": { "url": "https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp" } } }Save the file and restart Cursor. When Cursor asks you to sign in to this server, choose what it may use in the Kin window, then approve.
With Cursor's CLI you can start the sign-in yourself, then list the tools to check it worked:
agent mcp login kin agent mcp list-tools kin
- Grok Build also installs a command named agent. If agent --version starts with grok, the agent commands above reach Grok, not Cursor. Run Cursor's CLI by its full path, or put it first on your PATH.
Use a token instead
Replace YOUR_TOKEN with the token you created in Kin under AI apps. See Sign in, or use a token.
Open ~/.cursor/mcp.json, creating it if needed. To use Kin in one project only, use .cursor/mcp.json in that project.
Add Kin under mcpServers:
{ "mcpServers": { "kin": { "url": "https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_TOKEN" } } } }Save the file and restart Cursor.
Good to know
- If the file already lists other servers, add the kin entry beside them. Do not replace the file.
After you connect
Ask the app to do something with an account you connected, such as "list my open Linear issues". The app searches Kin for a matching action and runs it if your rule allows it. An action set to Ask me waits for you. See Approvals and questions.
To change what this app may use, open AI apps in Kin. See What each AI app may use.
How we checked this guide
We ran these steps with Cursor's CLI, version 2026.10.12, on October 13, 2026: sign-in, the tools, and a pasted token. The editor's own sign-in prompt was not run.
Cursor documents the file format and that it supports sign-in, but not the wording of its sign-in prompt in the editor, so that step is described generally.
