AI apps
Add Kin to Zoo Code
The community fork of Roo Code, in VS Code.
Before you start
Sign in
In the Zoo Code pane, select the MCP Servers icon at the top, scroll to the bottom of that view, then select Edit Global MCP. To use Kin in one project only, select Edit Project MCP instead.
Add Kin under
mcpServers. Zoo Code needs thetypeline:{ "mcpServers": { "kin": { "type": "streamable-http", "url": "https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp" } } }Save the file. When Zoo Code says MCP server "kin" is waiting for authentication, select Authenticate.
A Kin window opens in your browser. Kin cannot check who Zoo Code is, so it starts read only. Check the connections ticked for it, choose Can read and change if it should make changes, then approve.
Zoo Code says when
kinis connected. You can close the browser tab.
- If you dismiss the Authenticate message, restart
kinin the MCP Servers view to sign in again.
After you connect
Ask the app to do something with an account you connected, such as "list my open Linear issues". The app searches Kin for a matching action and runs it if your rule allows it. An action set to Ask me waits for you. See Approvals and questions.
To change what this app may use, open AI apps in Kin. See What each AI app may use.
Use a profile's address
Kin's address for every AI app is https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp. A profile has its own address, shown on the profile. See Profiles.
Use a token instead
Use a token only when the app cannot sign in. Create one in Kin under AI apps, with Connect an AI app and then Paste a token (advanced). Kin shows it once. Replace YOUR_TOKEN with it. See Sign in, or use a token.
Open the MCP settings as above and add Kin with your token:
{ "mcpServers": { "kin": { "type": "streamable-http", "url": "https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_TOKEN" } } } }
Good to know
- The global file is
mcp_settings.json. The project file is.roo/mcp.json. - If the file already lists other servers, add the
kinentry beside them.
How we checked this guide
These steps follow Zoo Code documentation as of October 31, 2026. We have not run every step.
Zoo Code was not run here. We read the source code of Zoo Code 3.94.0: it registers itself with Kin and returns to an address on this computer, which Kin accepts. Its documentation does not cover signing in, so those steps quote the extension's own messages.
Source: Zoo Code documentation. These apps change their screens often, so check there if a step looks different.
