Add Kin to your AI apps

Add Kin to Grok Build

The Grok Build coding agent in the terminal. Give Grok Build one address, sign in to Kin, and it can use the accounts you connect, under your rules.

Before you start

  • Create a Kin account at app.kinlab.ai and connect at least one account. See Get started.
  • Kin's address for every AI app is https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp. A profile has its own address, shown on the profile. See Profiles.
  • Signing in is the recommended way. Use a token only when the app cannot sign in. You create one in Kin under AI apps, with Connect an AI app and then Paste a token (advanced), and Kin shows it once.

  1. In a terminal, add Kin to Grok:

grok mcp add --transport http kin https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp
  2. Start Grok and type /mcps. On the MCP Servers tab, move down to kin, which reads needs auth, and press i.

  3. Choose what Grok may use in the Kin window that opens, then approve. kin then reads ready.

Use a token instead

Replace YOUR_TOKEN with the token you created in Kin under AI apps. See Sign in, or use a token.

  1. In a terminal, add Kin with your token:

grok mcp add --transport http --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN" kin https://app.kinlab.ai/mcp
  2. Check the connection. It should report 5 tools:

    grok mcp doctor kin

Good to know

  • This adds Kin for every project. Add --scope project to the command to keep it to the current folder.
  • Grok reaches Kin through its own search_tool and use_tool, so those are the names you will see while it works.
  • The command saves the token in ~/.grok/config.toml. To keep it out of that file, set KIN_TOKEN in your shell and write the header value there as Bearer ${KIN_TOKEN}.

After you connect

Ask the app to do something with an account you connected, such as "list my open Linear issues". The app searches Kin for a matching action and runs it if your rule allows it. An action set to Ask me waits for you. See Approvals and questions.

To change what this app may use, open AI apps in Kin. See What each AI app may use.

How we checked this guide

We ran these steps with Grok Build 1.0.50 on October 13, 2026, including a full task: Grok found an action, ran it and summarized the result.
