Switch from Claude Code to Codex mid-task.
Claude Code hits its limit halfway through a task. Codex picks it up on the same branch, with Claude's notes and the next step. I don't copy anything over.
With Kin on your Mac and Pro, Kin sees Claude Code stop on its usage limit and starts Codex on the same task, in the same folder and branch. You choose whether it asks you first.

Let Kin start sessions
In Kin on your Mac, under Coding agents, turn on Start sessions for tasks.
Choose what happens at a limit
In Kin's Settings, open Failover and choose Ask me or Automatic, and the order to try agents in.
At the limit, Kin moves the work.
Kin sees Claude Code stop on its usage limit and tells you when it resets. Then, by your setting:
- Ask me, the default: Kin asks which agent should take over, and recommends one with usage left.
- Automatic: Kin starts the best agent with usage left, then tells you.
- Off: Kin only tells you it stopped.
Codex starts where Claude left off.
Codex starts in the same folder, on the same branch. Its first prompt carries the task, the notes Kin keeps for it, and Claude Code's own handoff. It runs the model closest to the one Claude Code was using.
Claude Code's session stays as it was, ready to resume once its usage resets.
No limit needed. Switch whenever you want.
Ask Claude Code to hand the task to Codex. It writes what is done and what is next on the task in Kin, and Codex finds it waiting when it checks in.
Questions
Visit the help centerDo I need Pro?
Yes. Coding-agent sessions, shared tasks and handoffs are part of Pro, and the free trial includes them. Compare plans
Does Kin pay for Codex?
No. Codex and Claude Code run on your own accounts. Your AI app subscriptions stay separate from Kin.
Can it hand work to other agents?
Yes. Set the order in Failover, and Kin goes down it to the first agent with usage left. It starts one on its own only when it can read that agent's usage.
What happens to the Claude Code session?
Nothing. It stays as it was, so you can go back to it once its usage resets.
