Two GitHub accounts. One Codex.
Codex works in my company's repos and in my own. I want it reading the work GitHub, never writing to it, and asking before it touches anything personal.
Connect each GitHub account to Kin as its own connection and give each a level. Add Kin to Codex with one command. Codex sees both accounts by name, uses the one you name, and is told to ask when either would do.
Steps checked in Kin on .
Free for 5 connections and 2 AI apps. No card needed.
Set it up
Connect both GitHub accounts
In Kin, connect GitHub and sign in as your work account. Connect GitHub again and sign in as the personal one. Name them, for example GitHub (work) and GitHub (personal). Several accounts on one service
Give each one a level
Set the work account to Read only and the personal one to Ask me for changes. Levels for a connection
Add Kin to Codex
Run the command below. If no browser opens, run
codex mcp login kin. Choose what Codex may use in the Kin window, then approve. Codex setupcodex mcp add kin --url https://app.kinlab.ai/mcpName the account in your request
Ask Codex for something like "list the newest issues with my work GitHub". It picks the action on that connection.
What Codex did.
We gave Codex CLI 0.165.0 two tasks in one run: list the three newest issues in a public repository with the work account, then comment on one. It listed them through GitHub (work). For the comment, Kin offered only reads on the read-only account, so Codex said it couldn't post, and nothing was posted.
Activity in Kin shows the read with Codex as the app and GitHub (work) as the account.
When you don't say, Codex asks.
When both accounts could do a task, Kin's answer to Codex lists the action once per account and says to ask you which. Each match names its connection, so Codex never guesses from a token.
Questions
Visit the help centerDoes this change the account git pushes with?
No. Kin covers the GitHub calls Codex makes through Kin, such as issues, pull requests and reviews. Pushes from your computer use your git and SSH settings, and any GitHub connection you set up in Codex itself is separate from Kin.
Can I keep Codex away from the personal account?
Yes. When Codex signs in to Kin, choose Only these connections and tick the work account. Codex then never sees the other one.
Do I need a paid plan?
No. Two connections, their rules and one Codex are on every plan, Free included. Compare plans
